FARMINGTON – Alice L. Foster, 87, of North Jay, died Monday, Dec. 4, at the Franklin Memorial Hospital.

She was born, Sept. 9, 1919, in Dixfield, the daughter of Delbert and Lillian (Simmons) Coolidge. She attended and graduated from Jay schools.

In the 1930s, she married Harold Foster in Jay, where they made their home and she worked as a homemaker to her husband and family.

She was a member of the North Jay Grange 10 for 67 years as well as the Pomona, State and National Grange for many years. She was also a member of the North Jay United Methodist Women.

She enjoyed the outdoors working in the yard on her flower and vegetable gardens and animals of all types. She also enjoyed collecting owls, playing cards and going out to lunch with her friends as well as traveling with her husband including a cross country trip to Alaska.

She is survived by a daughter, Kristy Wheel of Grand Isle, Vt.; a granddaughter, Amber Wilkinson and her son, Braden, of South Burlington, Vt.; a nephew, Mark Foster of Wilton; nieces, Sharon Rainey, and her husband, Robert “Buddy,” of Wilton and Gloria Hall, and her husband, Dick, of East Dixfield; a brother-in-law, Lincoln Foster of Wisconsin; several grandnieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her husband, Harold in 1983; and a daughter, Janice in 1998.
