Hanging of greens
WILTON – The Hanging of the Greens will take place at 10 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 10, at the Wilton United Methodist Church.
The church will also hold a Christmas eve service at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 24, at the church. All are welcome to all church events.
Celebration
PHILLIPS – For the first time in more than 30 years, Christmas will be celebrated in the Phillips Congregational Church. Decorations have been hung and the ATV club has placed a lighted tree on the church lawn. There is also a Christmas tree inside the sanctuary.
The church invites everyone to attend an indoor program of Christmas carols at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 10. The program is a sing-a-long but plans are under way to have several local young soloists perform as well. After the singing, light refreshments will be served.
The church is located at the corner of Main and Pleasant streets. There is a new ramp to make the church accessible to all.
In addition to the carol sing, Pastor Susan E. Kaplan also leads the regular Sunday services at 10 a.m. On Sunday, Dec. 24, there will be two services, at 10 a.m. and at 4 p.m.
Society speaker
FARMINGTON – The Sandy River Valley Chapter, Maine Genealogy Society, will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, at the Farmington Public Library. The topic, “History of the Grange,” will be presented by Mavis Lane. Anyone with an interest in genealogy is welcome.
Rabies clinic
TURNER – The town of Turner and staff from Turner Veterinary Service will have a rabies clinic from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, at the Turner Fire/Rescue Station, General Turner Hill Road. The rabies shot will be $10 and dog licensing will be available for Turner residents. The dog licenses are $6 for altered and $10 for unaltered dogs. Neighboring residents are welcomed to take advantage of the clinic.
Medicare reviews
FARMINGTON – Free Medicare reviews for seniors will be available at 9:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 11, at the Stratton Community Building, and 3:30 p.m. at Webster Hall in Kingfield; 9:30 a.m. Tuesday,. Dec. 12, at the Rangeley Heath Center, Dallas Hill Road, and 3:30 p.m. at Strong’s Forster Building; and 3 p.m. Monday, Dec. 18, at Franklin Memorial Hospital, Bass Room.

Society supper
FARMINGTON – The Farmington Historical Society will meet on Monday, Dec. 11, at the Henderson Memorial Baptist Church, Academy Street. There will be a potluck supper at 6 p.m. followed by a business meeting and program at 7.
