LEWISTON – SeniorsPlus, the local area agency on aging, has announced a new program, “Getting Around Town.” The program assists elderly and disabled with transportation, grocery delivery, errands, seasonal yard work and minor home repair services.

Many seniors in the area do not have the supports in place to remain independent. SeniorsPlus’ mission is to enrich the lives of seniors by offering programs to help them remain independent and in their own homes.

There is a small fee for grocery and transportation services. Call for seasonal yard work and minor home repair services. Dates and times these services are available will be arranged in advance. There is no charge for seasonal yard work or home repairs, but donations will be accepted.

Seniors who live in Androscoggin, Franklin or Oxford counties and are interested in receiving the services should contact SeniorsPlus at 795-4010 or 1-800-427-1841 and ask for Jennifer, ext. 114.

SeniorsPlus is always looking for volunteers to assist with the programs. Mileage is reimbursed. Call for more information. More information can be found at www.seniorsplus.org.
