DURHAM, N.H. (AP) – Another negotiation session between the University of New Hampshire and the school’s faculty has come up empty.
Dale Barkey, president of the UNH chapter of the American Association of University Professors, said administrators and the union met with a mediator for five hours Tuesday, but could not agree on a contract.
He says salary and benefits continue to be the sticking points.
The faculty contract expired in June, and talks reached an impasse in October.
The administration proposed four and a half percent raises for three years, with the faculty share of health insurance premiums increasing from 12 percent to 16 percent. The union asked for six percent raises for two years and no increase in health care costs.
Both sides now go to a fact finder, who will hear arguments and recommend a settlement.
