RUMFORD – Dorothy Dorr, 88, died Thursday, Dec. 7, at the Rumford Hospital. She was a resident of Hillside Avenue in Rumford.

She was born in East New Portland, on Oct. 19, 1918, a daughter of Cecil and Christie (Stevens) Mahoney. She was a graduate of Stephens High School, Class of 1937. She worked for New England Telephone as a telephone operator. She was a member of the Virgin Memorial Chapel of the Rumford United Methodist Church.

She was married for 67 years to Howard “Bud” Dorr who survives of Rumford.

Other survivors include two sons, Jack, and his wife, Deborah, of Rumford and James, and his wife, Gail, of Mexico; four daughters, Mrs. Judith Roy, and her husband, Paul, of Hopkinton, R.I., Mrs. Jean Dupuis, and her husband, Andrew, of Mexico, Mrs. Joyce Gallant, and her husband, Arthur, of Rumford and Mrs. Janice Heinzen, and her husband, Michael, of Mexico; two brothers, Cecil Mahoney of Rumford and Thomas Mahoney of Lewiston; three sisters, Mrs. Evelyn Gaul and Mrs. Ruth Karpen of Rumford and Mrs. Beverly Jasud of Mexico; 14 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a son Jeffrey; and a daughter, Linda Dorr.
