Portage, Ind. – Beryl Mayme (Buck) Schur, 81, a former resident of Auburn died on Thursday, Dec. 7, at her home in Portage, Indiana, surrounded by her family.
She was born April 20, 1925, in Auburn, the daughter of Ralph and Vina (Burgess) Buck. She was a graduate of Edward Little High School in Auburn. She married Gilbert Paul Schur on May 28, 1956 in Chicago, Ill. They made their home and raised their six children in Chicago, Ill., prior to moving to Indiana.
She was a homemaker and also worked as a clerk at the Cook County Board of Elections in Chicago for 20 years, retiring in 1993. She had worked with the Salvation Army and the U.S.O. during World War II. She was a member of the B’nai B’rith in Riverdale, Ill. She was a lifelong dedicated Cub fan.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Gilbert Paul Schur of Portage, Ind..; three daughters and their husbands, Laura and Richard Rebot and Mary and Roland Junod, both of Chicago, Ill. and Aletia and Paul Podlecki of Portage, Ind.; three sons and their wives, Nathan and Cheryl Schur of Tullahoma, Tenn., David and Linda Schur of Lynwood, Ill. and Ralph and Mary Schur of Murrieta, Calif.; 9 grandchildren, Daniel and Melody Schur, Pam and Tony Junod, Steven and Melissa Podlecki, David and Sara Schur and Allen Rebot.
She was predeceased by a brother, Roy C. Buck; and a sister, Beverly (Burton) Wright.
