This is in response to the Dec. 3 article, “Officials: Gun crime on rise in Maine.” It’s too bad no suggestions were included.
Are we not allowed to shoot people who are threatening to shoot us? Are we not allowed to shoot people who are breaking into our homes? Just a few years ago, people were allowed to protect themselves. Has this changed?
There are many alarm systems. There are even personal alarm systems.
The innocent must begin to set a precedent. Perhaps with a few maimed armed robbers, there will be fewer armed robberies.
Our forefathers/mothers stood up for themselves; at least they tried. Are we wimps or are our laws now protecting only the criminals?
