I have an idea for the Lewiston City Council: Let the position of mayor become obselete. The position is not needed. Just as Maine sets examples, let Lewiston set the example by eliminating unnecessary positions. The salary can be used to help create a more helpful budget.

I am sure that between the administor and his assistant, the mayor will not be missed. After all, he’s only a figurehead. I bet that more work and less expense can be accomplished if city officials are willing to put their frontal lobes together and work for the good of all.

Then I bet the citizens will cooperate with praising the efforts of the Lewiston City Council.
