AUBURN – Leon A. Edmunds, 81, a resident of Canton, died early Saturday morning, Dec. 9, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin after a brief stay.
He was born June 6, 1925, in South Paris, the son of Frank C. and Alta (Tripp) Edmunds. He attended school in South Paris and Buckfield.
He served in the National Guard.
On Sept. 25, 1948, he married Dorothy M. Bean of Buckfield.
Leon worked at Livermore Shoe and later at Sebago Wood Crafting in Buckfield, retiring in 1990. He enjoyed woodworking and making bird feeders.
Leon was the past master and a 25-year member of the Whitney Masonic Lodge No. 167 in Canton. He was also a member of the Jay Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Dorothy Edmunds of Canton; one son, Ernest Edmunds and his wife, Georgianna, of Canton; four daughters, Alta Currier and her husband, John, of Oxford, Annette Faust and her husband, William, of Kittery Point, Donna Edmunds of Rochester, N.H., and Melanie Hill and her husband, Clarence, of Hartford; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
