TOPSHAM – Philip E. Hunt, 86, of Old Bath Road, Brunswick, died Thursday, Dec. 7, at Amenity Manor in Topsham with his family by his side.

He was born in Bath on Jan. 23, 1920, a son of Isaiah W. and Harriette G. Witham Hunt. He attended Morse High School.

He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1938 and served in the North Atlantic and South Pacific during World War II. He retired from the Navy in 1958.

He married Ruth S. Drapeau on Feb. 22, 1945, and they shared 55 wonderful years together.

He worked for Reed & Reed, Bowdoin College and Bath Iron Works before permanently retiring in 1982.

He was a member of Open Bible Baptist Church, where he also served as a deacon. He was loved by all who met him. His faith in Jesus Christ as his personal savior made his life worth living and he is now forever with the Lord.

He is survived by four sons, Glen A. and his wife, Debbie Hunt, of New Gloucester, David E. and his wife, Kathleen Hunt, of Dresden, Fulton and his wife, Debbie Hunt, of Topsham, and Bruce E. Hunt; a sister, Evelyn Dunn of Florida; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife, who died Nov. 8, 1999; a son, Eugene R. Hunt; a brother, William Hunt; and a sister, Elizabeth Peck.
