PARIS – Investigators from the Maine Warden’s Service and State Police were back at the scene of a fatal shooting Saturday, trying to recreate the circumstances that led to the death a local teenager.

“We were at the scene today, working with the State Police on evidence procedures,” said Mark Latti, spokesman for the Maine Warden’s Service. “What we want to do is be absolutely thorough and cover all the bases.”

Latti did not disclose any additional information about the investigation into the hunting-related fatality that claimed the life of 18-year-old Megan Ripley. The teenager died Thursday afternoon after being shot in the chest, apparently by a deer hunter in the woods behind her Christian Ridge Road house in Paris.

Latti said once the investigation is finished, police and wardens will meet with the Attorney General to determine whether there will be criminal charges. None were filed as of Saturday, nor has the identity of the shooter been released.

Visiting hours for the Ripley family are set for Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Westin-Chandler Funeral Home in Paris, with an 11 a.m. funeral planned Tuesday at the Oxford Advent Christian Church in Oxford.
