This is in response to the story (Nov. 29) about the tenant dispute at 119 Oxford St. Apartments are what people make of them. If people let them become dumpy, then they live in a dump.
I do not live in an apartment, but people are the same everywhere – there are good people and then people who just don’t care.
People in an apartment house should get together and contact owners about problems. If they cannot reach the owners, then they should contact the city officials, that is why they are there for and being paid to do. Those officials are there to help people. They can contact the landlord to fix the problems and help get rid of the troublemakers who destroy apartments.
If people live in a building that has no locks on the doors, windows that don’t close and has trash in the hallways, they must like it that way, because nothing gets done to change that.
That building used to be a very nice building. I know – I used to live next door.
Tenants should get together and save that building.
