OES meeting

AUBURN – Pine Cone Chapter 26, Order of the Eastern Star, will meet at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 14, at the Masonic Hall, 1021 Turner St. The stations of warder and sentinel will be honored. John Cousins, grand warder, and Paul Connelly, grand sentinel, will be present.

The chapter will adopt a family for Christmas. Instead of a gift exchange, members are asked to make a donation so the chapter can buy gifts for the family. The meeting will be preceded by a potluck supper at 6:30 p.m. All Eastern Star members are welcome.

Bridge results

NEW GLOUCESTER – The New Gloucester Duplicate Bridge Club met Dec. 10 at the Masonic Building when a Howell movement was played.

Finishing first in Flight A were Marta Clements and Nancy Farmer; second, Dave Wallace and Tom Dahlberg. Finishing first in Flight B were Linda Leotsakos and Audrey Burns; second, Sue Kaluzynski and Pat Achlegel.

The annual Christmas party will be held Dec. 17, and all bridge players are invited. A partner is guaranteed. For information, call Les Buzzell at 782-4153.

VFW meeting

LISBON – VFW Post 9459 and Auxiliary, Route 196, will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19. The agenda will include Christmas baskets for families, boxes for troops and upcoming events.

All members are encouraged to attend and new members are welcome. All suppers are open to the public. For more information, call 353-5291 Wednesday through Friday after 4 p.m.

VFW Post 9459 and Auxiliary, along with guests and friends, will have the annual Christmas get-together at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 22. Members are asked to take a dish to share.

Taize worship

LEWISTON – A worship with the chants and prayers originating from the monastery in Taizé, France, will be held at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 17, at Trinity Episcopal Church, 247 Bates St. All are welcome.

LISBON FALLS – Nelson-Conley American Legion Post 66, recently shipped more than $800 worth of Christmas gifts to two platoons in Iraq. Individual donations from post members financed the program, the fourth year of gift-giving by Post 66.
