Christmas cantata

WOODSTOCK – All are invited to the annual Christmas cantata that will be performed by the Woodstock Forestdale School children at the Woodstock Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Perkins Valley. The theme is “Away in the Manger.” Winnie Hodson is the director, with Patti Yates accompanying the children on the piano. There will be performances at 6:45 p.m. Friday, Dec. 15, and 10:45 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 16.

Decorate cookies

WEST PARIS – Old-fashioned Christmas sugar cookies can be decorated at the “Little Castle” library during the week before Christmas. Everyone may decorate cookies for Santa Claus, family and friends or themselves during library hours on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, Dec. 18, 20 and 22. An assortment of frostings and sprinkles will be available to put on holiday-shaped cookies. After decorating a cookie, have a cup of hot chocolate. Library hours are 1:30 to 6 p.m. Monday and Friday and 1:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday. For more information, call 674-2004.

Sunday service

NORWAY – The service at the First Universalist Church will be led by Jim Burke, a member and the music director of the First Universalist Church of West Paris, Norway’s sister church, at 11 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 17.

Church events

NORTH WATERFORD – The Rev. George Frobig invites children and adults to meet at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 17, at the North Waterford Congregational Church to go Christmas caroling.

The carolers will visit shut-ins and others in the North Waterford and Stoneham area. The group will return to the church in time for a potluck supper at 5 p.m. More Christmas carols and a visit from Santa will follow the supper. The church is located on the Five Kezars Road off Routes 35 and 37.

Worship services will take place at 10 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 24, at the North Waterford Congregational Church, followed by a candlelight Christmas Eve service at 5 p.m. Frobig invites all church members and friends to attend the traditional service of Christmas music and scripture readings.

Regular Sunday worship services are being held at 10 a.m. at the church through the winter. Church school for grade school children meets after school on Tuesdays at the Stoneham Town Office/Fire Station, Slab City Road. Adult church school is held at 7:15 p.m. Mondays at the home of Marjorie Kimball, Sawins Hill Road. For more information, call Frobig at 693-6461.
