VFW meeting

LEWISTON – The Longley-Dionne VFW Post 9150 will meet at noon Sunday, Dec. 17 at the Lewiston Elks Lodge, 1675 Lisbon St. All officers and members are encouraged to attend. The agenda will include upcoming programs and membership. A light Christmas lunch will be served before the meeting. Eligible veterans wishing to join the VFW are invited.

Lodge to meet

AUBURN – Ashlar Lodge 105, AF and AM, will meet Monday, Dec. 18, at the Auburn Masonic Temple, 1021 Turner St. The lodge will honor 50-, 40- and 25-year members. There will be a 6:30 p.m. ham supper followed by the meeting at 7:30. All Masons are welcome. For more information, contact Steve Peterson at 777-1728.

AARP program

LEWISTON – The Androscoggin Chapter 4077, AARP, will meet at 1:15 p.m. Monday, Dec. 18, at the Multi-Purpose Center, Birch Street. The board of directors will meet at 12:30 p.m.

Lorraine Ouellette will provide Christmas music on the accordion and a sing-along. She, Adrian LeClair and Gerry Ruby play locally in nursing homes and at the Franco American Festival. Anyone age 50 or older is invited to attend and join the organization. There will be attendance and pot of gold drawings. Refreshments will be served.

Christmas program

LEWISTON – The National Active Retired Federal Employee Association will meet at 1130 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19, at the Ramada Inn.

Henry Grenier Sr. will provide musical entertainment, including Christmas favorites. An auction will be held after lunch.

Plans for the meeting were made at the home of Vi Dumais. Attending were Sue Stetson, Doris Hamel, Mike and Flo Bonunicky and Perry Munroe.

Seniors elect

AUBURN – The New Auburn Senior Citizens elected officers for the year. They are Virginia Levasseur, president; Fern Bussiere, vice president; Irene Delorme, secretary; Delice Blais, treasurer; and Joyce Bickford, correspondence secretary. Installation will be held in January.

A meeting was held Dec. 6 with Levasseur presiding. December birthdays were noted and “Happy Birthday” was sung. They also received small gifts.

Members were reminded if there is no school on a meeting day or dinner day due to a storm, it will be held the following day. Pot of gold winners were Tony Arel, Irene Coady, Doris Biron and Norman Hamel.

There will be bingo Wednesday, Dec. 13, for all seniors age 60 and over. It will be the last open bingo until the next meeting on Jan. 3. The meeting adjourned, a light lunch was served and bingo followed.

Bridge results

LEWISTON – The Lewiston-Auburn Social Bridge Club winners at the Multi-Purpose Center on Dec. 11 were: first overall, Cynthia Bonsey and Sue Kaluzynski; second, Les Buzzell and Paul Sherman; third, Lucille Bilodeau and Luke Merry; fourth, Martine Begert and Mary Leahey; fifth, Nancy Lindgren and Roger Briggs.

Also, second in B, Marta Clements and Nancy Farmer; third in B, Helen Little and Alberta Turner; fourth in B and first in C, Claire Tewhey and Charles Bartlett; second in C, Marlene and Conrad Violette.

The annual holiday party will be held at 9 a.m. Monday, Dec. 18. There will be no games on Christmas Day or New Year’s Day. The next game will be played on Jan. 8. Call Rosemarie Goodwin at 783-1734 for information about all duplicate bridge games.
