EAST SUMNER – The Congregational Church of East Sumner announces the following events: Sunday, Dec. 17, Sunday school program at 4:30 p.m. followed by potluck supper; Sunday, Dec. 24, regular worship at 9 a.m.; no Sunday school; Christmas Eve Candlelight service at 7 p.m.; Sunday, Dec. 31, farewell to Pastor Michael Johnson following service; choir sings; no Sunday school; Sunday, Jan. 7, Pastor Nancy Miaoulis begins, choir sings and communion.

Society to meet

WEST PARIS – The Finnish-American Heritage Society of Maine will meet at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 17, at the Heritage Center. A brief business meeting will be followed by a Christmas program, with Maurice Veatch leading the music. A coffee social will follow. The public is welcome.

Santa to visit

WEST PARIS – The annual Christmas potluck supper and Santa will be held at the First Universalist Church at 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 17. After the potluck supper, Christmas caroling will be held while waiting for Santa. Dessert will be provided, but bring something to share at the supper. There is no charge and all are welcome.

Women to meet

PARIS – The Christian Women United will meet at the First Congregational Church in South Paris on Tuesday, Dec. 19. Luncheon will be served at 11:30 a.m. The speaker will be Lynn Twitchell of Readfield. Topic will be “Habitants of Humanity.” Those who have not been contacted and would like a reservation may call Pearl Anderson at 743-5724.

Holiday concert

NORWAY – The Music Committee of the Second Congregational Church of Norway will present a Christmastide Concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 17, in the sanctuary of the Second Congregational Church, UCC, 205 Main St. Surrounded by poinsettias, Christmas trees and traditional holiday decorations, those attending will experience a concert of carols, choral and hand bell music, readings of the season followed by a reception of holiday treats. Wreath-making

OTISFIELD – There will be a make-your-own wreath event from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Dec. 16, at Spurr’s Corner Church, Route 121. Everyone is welcome to make a wreath with trimmings free. There will be refreshments and coloring pages for children. For more information, call 627-4886.

The church will have its annual Christmas Eve candlelight service from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 24. There will be Christmas carols, lighting of candles, special choral/solo vocalists and the Christmas story.
