OXFORD – A 72-year-old man barely missed crashing into a utility pole after he fell asleep at the wheel Tuesday afternoon, Sgt. Rickie Jack of the Oxford Police Department said.
Sidney T. Culleton of Oxford told police he dozed off while driving his 1990 Ford pickup down Robinson Hill Road toward South Town Farm Road.
“He crossed the opposite lane, barely missed a telephone pole and struck a tree,” Jack said Tuesday evening.
Culleton complained of chest pains but did not have major injuries, Jack said.
