SABATTUS – Bertha Lillian Poirier, 77, of 2 Conway St., passed away peacefully on Dec. 11, after a long, courageous battle with her health.
Bertha was born in Greene, the daughter of Elwood and Lizzie (Beal) Wing.
She attended school in Greene and graduated from Sabattus High School.
She was a waitress for most of her life and she loved people. She worked at Bert’s Restaurant for 24 years and at Uncle Moe’s Diner in Sabattus, until she retired.
Above all, she loved her family and friends. She was especially proud of her grandchildren, Christopher M. MacFarlane and Misty W. Prentiss.
Her great-granddaughter, Gabrielle Lynn Fontenot, was her pride and joy and she was anxiously awaiting the birth of her second great-granddaughter, Angeleena Lillian Fontenot, who will be born into the family on Jan. 16, 2007.
She is survived by her daughter, Paula McNeil of Sabattus; sister, Betty Polley of Sabattus; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Cecile Wing of Lewiston; sister-in-law, Gertrude Wing of Litchfield; cousins, Wanita and Moses Flaherty of Litchfield; sister-in-law, Lorraine Packard of Sabattus; and nieces and nephews, Butch, Donna, Debbie, Kelly, Richard, Kathy, Tina, Joe, David, Phillip, Kenny, Dora, Muriel, Linda, Robbie, Robert and Larry Jr.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Brenda Marie Pomerleau; and four brothers, Elwood (Junior) Wing, Francis Wing, Larry Wing and Richard (Dick) Wing.
The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses at CMMC’s Critical Care Unit and the M-1 Unit for the care and compassion given to Bertha and her family.
