LEWISTON – Howard E. Eisman, 82, of Lewiston, passed away Dec. 12, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.
Born in Warwick, R.I., he was the son of Robert and Gertrude Peak Eisman.
He graduated from Cranston Rhode Island High School, Calvin Coolidge College, and the New England School of Law.
He served four years as signalman on the U.S.S. Wasp in the Pacific during World War II.
He served as state service officer for many years and retired as State of Maine Director of Veteran Services.
He belonged to the American Legion where he was post commander of the Oxford Post 112, as well as service officer for Oxford County for several years. He also belonged to the AMVETS, Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Franco American, and the Disabled American War Veterans.
He was married 55 years to Gracia Harvey; and a parent to Gracia Eisman of Kamas, Utah, and Robert Eisman of Bloomington, Ind.
