SALEM – In an effort to provide an effective decision-making process that aligns with the mission of Mt. Abram High School and that embodies the spirit of shared decision-making and includes all stakeholders, Mt. Abram is seeking council members from all SAD 58 communities as the new governance charter takes effect.

An informational spaghetti supper will be held at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3, at Mt. Abram for interested community members, and child care can be provided on site if there is a need.

The new Community Council (consisting of six members) will provide input on key issues that impact the school and community and will inform the SAD 58 communities on practices and policies.

Volunteers from Phillips, Eustis, Avon, Kingfield, Strong and the unorganized territories are being sought to represent the community voice in the new charter. Once assembled, the council will elect a chairperson and vice chairperson to schedule meetings, to serve as members of the decision-making body and to communicate with stakeholders.

The council goal is to help create a community network. Terms are for one year and are renewable. Stakeholder issues include, but are not limited to, issues around school and community relations, transportation, learning, athletics and community connections.

For more information, or to attend the informational supper, contact Mt. Abram High School at 678-2701, ext. 105, (ask for school secretary Laura White) or e-mail Principal Jeanne Tucker at jtucker@msad58.org.
