DOVER, N.H. (AP) – A Rochester woman is suing an Ossipee man she claims secretly videotaped her in the bathroom of his home. The lawsuit accuses Edwin Wilder, 46, of videotaping the woman – referred to in court papers as “Jane Doe” – while she was a guest at his home in late August.

He was arrested Dec. 9 and charged with invasion of privacy, alleging he videotaped three women on various dates. “Unbeknownst to plaintiff, and without her permission, defendant videotaped plaintiff while she was in the shower and while she was using the bathroom,” court papers said. According to Ossipee Police Chief Richard Morgan, Wilder faces three misdemeanor charges for videotaping women from Rochester, Ossipee and Wakefield on three separate occasions. He said he believes the women were friends of Wilder’s wife. Morgan said recording equipment and videotapes were found in the home, but there is no evidence that the tapes were distributed.

Lawyer John Sherman, who represents the woman filing the lawsuit, said his client has not determine how much money she will seek in the lawsuit, which claims the woman has suffered depression, post traumatic stress and other ailments as a result of the taping.

Wilder will be arraigned on the criminal charges Jan. 19.
