Service sermon

PARIS – “I Bring You Glad Tidings” will be the sermon topic at the First Universalist Church, 36 Pine St., Paris, at 10 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 17. Silver Moore-Leamon will lead the service. The music will be provided by the choir and Forest Perkins, church organist. Renee Wales will lead the Sunday school. Child care is provided. The coffee hour will follow in Good Cheer Hall. Everyone is welcome.

Church program

WEST PARIS – The West Paris Baptist Church Sunday school will present “The Christmas Story” at the 9:15 a.m. worship service Sunday, Dec. 17. Everyone is invited. Music will be offered by the West Paris Baptist Church Harmonica Band with carols by the Sunday school.

Open house

PARIS – The Paris Cape Historical Society held a Christmas open house Dec. 9 to celebrate its 25th anniversary. Eight local historical societies were represented.

There was food, Christmas music and tours of the museum. The society will be in recess until April.

Bottle drive

PARIS – The 4-H Travel Club of Oxford County is holding an ongoing bottle drive until the end of January.

The club is working to offer cultural experiences to members and the opportunity to learn through visiting different states. A trip is planned to the Orlando area in February. Included will be behind-the-scenes educational visits.

Members will pick up bottles at homes or businesses. Call Jim or Kim at 674-2451 or Beth at 539-4353 to make arrangements.

Society speaker

WEST PARIS – The West Paris Historical Society met Nov. 20 for a potluck supper at 6 p.m. with 19 members present. A meeting was followed by speaker, Lloyd Waterhouse, who discussed trapping in Oxford County.

The December meeting will be held at the home of Norman and Elaine Emery, 90 High St., with coffee, desserts and gift exchange.
