LEWISTON – HealthSteps, part of the prevention and wellness services offered through St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center, offers a wide range of classes with the core membership fee and a variety of specialty classes, including:

Line dancing: Learn how to do easy line dances. No partner needed and no previous dance experience required. From 7 to 8 p.m. Mondays, Jan. 22, 29, Feb. 5, 12 and 19; instructor, Diane Williams; cost, $30; d’Youville Pavilion dining room.

Racquetball: Registration at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3. Specific hour-long time slots are available from 6 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday; cost, with core HealthSteps membership, $13 for winter session; without core membership, an hour once a week, $65; an hour two times a week, $104.

Qigong/tai chi: Both classes Tuesdays, Jan. 2 to April 17; qigong, 5 to 6 p.m.; tai chi, 6 to 7 p.m.; instructor, Jason Grundstrom-Whitney; $112 (tee covers entrance to both classes); Lepage Large Conference Room, 99 Campus Ave.

Tennis: Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3, for walk-ins and phone. Specific time slots available for registration Monday through Friday include 6 to 7 a.m., 7 to 8:30 a.m., 8:30 to 9:30 a.m., 9:30 to 11a.m. and 11 a.m. to noon.

The following guidelines apply: singles, maximum of two hours a week; doubles, maximum of three hours a week. The tennis court reserved for HealthSteps use is located at the far end of the field house at the Bates College Merrill Gym. Cost with core membership is $13 for the winter session; without core membership, $104.

Ballroom dancing: Learn how to glide across a dance floor with the waltz and swing from 7 to 8 p.m. Mondays, March 5, 12, 19 and 26; instructor, Diane Williams; $50 a couple; d’Youville Pavilion dining room.

Ashtanga yoga: The primary standing series beginner class is an athletic vinyasa format (meaning poses and breath energetically flow together into the next sequence of movements). Wear loose clothing or a leotard and bring a yoga mat and water bottle. Wednesdays from 5 to 6 p.m., Jan. 3 to 31; instructor, Heidi Audet; $40; Lepage Large Conference Room, 99 Campus Ave.

Tobacco cessation counseling: Single session will help participants gain an understanding of the quitting process. Included is a packet of materials to help individuals quit on their own. Three sessions will work with a smoking cessation coach, set a quit date and work through the quitting process. By appointment only; single session, $30; multi-session, $60.
