The Christmas light display on Vista Drive in Auburn, which first appeared in the Sun Journal on Dec. 8, has since been all over the news: television, radio and newspapers.

The display, which features 100,000 lights that dance to the tune of music (turn to 88.1 FM), was created by Central Maine Medical Center surgeon Jamie Loggins.

When Loggins lived in central Wisconsin, he and his neighbor and friend, Steve, built a light display on both of their properties. Since Loggins moved, Steve has continued his display. It’s not as big, but still impressive, Loggins said. However the Wisconsin display hasn’t captured much attention, not even the local media.

Imagine Steve’s surprise when he was watching the Wisconsin news and saw a story about the Auburn, Maine, lights by his old friend, Jamie said Friday with a chuckle.

And Loggins received an e-mail that said: “I went to Bates College and lived in Portland for a few years. I am currently in Paris, France. I almost lost my lunch when I saw Auburn (and your lights) on the PARIS NEWS! Congrats, looks very cool.”

The Auburn lights are also posted on YouTube.

Loggins’ Web site, Auburnlights.com, has plenty of room for people who have seen or heard about the display to post their comments. Most gush praise for Jamie and Karen Loggins’ work.
