FALMOUTH – Fay Marie Farris, 85, formerly of Greene, passed away on Dec. 9, at Sedgewood Commons with family by her side.
She was born on March 21, 1921, in Lubec the daughter of James and Margaret Small Denbow.
She was the 13th of 14 children. She had six brothers and seven sisters. They were a very close family. Her father owned a farm and grocery store, where she worked for years. She also worked in a sardine factory in Lubec at the age of 15. In her later years, she worked as a private duty aide for a woman in Lewiston, and with epileptic children.
She enjoyed a lot of hands-on activities including sewing, cooking, picking berries and crossword puzzles. She babysat for many of her grandchildren and enjoyed singing with them.
She is survived by a daughter, Brenda Mckissick; sons, Sherwood and George Farris; grandchildren, Kellie Ridley, Ken Batron, Deborah Martel, Ronald Tierney, Michelle Meyer, Quinn Tierney; several great-grandchildren; sisters, Geneva Greenlaw of Lubec and Bernadine Davis of Lynn, Mass.; and daughter-in-law, Janis Batron.
She was predeceased by her husband, Guy H. Farris; children, Hollis, Durrell, Wade Batron, Harland, Milton, Phil Farris, Corrine Jones; and 11 siblings.
