This is in response to a letter printed Dec. 12 from Thomas Obear.
Obear, and any other citizens, should realize that individuals cannot pick and choose which laws to obey. We simply cannot have that choice in a civil society. Any law that is on the books must be enforced.
And if a jurisdiction, such as a town meeting, cannot repeal that law, then that jurisdiction cannot “prioritize” its enforcement, either. It is just that simple.
This is a nation/state/county and town of laws, and that is the only way they can work – no matter what the hipsters of society at any point in time may otherwise prefer.
