I knew the Sun Journal was liberal, but I did not know just how much until the morning of Dec. 13.

I could not believe the T.L. Mikesell story was placed on the front page. There must have been another story more newsworthy than that – maybe a good news story out of Iraq? Then I realized, if it were good news from there, it would have been buried somewhere in the paper in the hopes not many people would see it.

I did notice the Mikesell story was right next to the story about cheap oil from Venezuela. How fitting. That makes me wonder: Where would this country be if the press were as liberal, and the people as gullible, during World War II? Maybe they would have lost confidence with all the negative press, and things would have turned out different.

Thankfully that did not happen.

As for the book Mikesell received, maybe he should read it. Or, maybe he should ask Venezulean president Hugo Chavez or Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad what he should do with it.
