NORWAY – George Paul Cawthon, 83, of Norway, died Sunday morning at Stephens Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Eldorado, Ill., on July 15, 1923, the son of Douglas and Julia Belt Cawthon.

He attended school in Eldorado and then faithfully served his country in the U.S. Navy. Upon retirement from the Navy, he attended dental school and worked many years as a dental technician.

He was a former member and past president of the Norway Country Club. He enjoyed his work, and in his younger years, fishing.

On April 4, 1987, he married Delores Shaw.

Survivors include his wife of Norway; two brothers, Charles and his wife, Clara, of Statesville, N.C., and Gary and his wife, Linda, of Dandridge, Ky.; a sister, Betty and her husband, Billy Graham, of St. Charles, Miss.; a stepson, David Morton and his wife, Nancy, of Saco; two stepdaughters, Deborah Eicher and her husband, Scott, of Otisfield, and Dawn Morton of South Portland; one step-granddaughter, Leah Morton of Biddeford, and several nieces and nephews.
