WESTBROOK – George Irving Wilson, 94, of Salmon Falls Road, Buxton, died on Dec. 17, at Springbrook Center for Health Care and Rehabilitation in Westbrook.
He was born in Hollis on May 28, 1912, a son of John and Clara (Ricker) Wilson. As a boy, he attended schools in Hollis and Buxton.
For many years, he worked for the New England Telephone Co. in various positions such as lineman and supervisor.
After retiring from New England Telephone Co., he joined the Telephone Pioneers, which is an organization for retired telephone workers.
He enjoyed woodworking and working for the telephone company.
He is predeceased by his beloved wife of 56 years, Rosa (Leland) Wilson, who died in 1994; a brother, Roscoe Wilson; two sisters, Eva Wilson and Lydia Ricker; a granddaughter, Cynthia Johnson; and two sons-in-law, Gerald Johnson Sr. and Clifford Conant.
He is survived by four daughters, Helen Johnson of Hollis, Linda Cousins and her husband, Larry, of South Paris, Marilyn Conant of Texarkana, Texas, and Gloria Gillette of Twenty Nine Palms, Calif.; a sister-in-law, Sarah Lessard of South Portland; 16 grandchildren; many great and great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
