LEWISTON – The Jesus Party, urban youth outreach, announces its annual Christmas and New Year’s Eve festivities.

Jesus Party directors Doug and Sonia Taylor invite inner city children to experience the 11th annual sacred celebration of the season at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 22. The theme will be “Happy Birthday Jesus” and will include birthday cake, ice cream, punch, candy canes and a feature presentation of “Prince of Peace” children’s film. Christmas carols and traditional hymns will be sung around the Christmas tree.

From 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 31, the ministry will ring in 2007 in “kid style.” The Taylor family singers will present an arrangement of 1950s and 1960s music with lyrics changed to biblical themes such as “Soul Man,” “I’m a Believer,” “Put a Little Love in Your Heart” and “Hallelujah Hop.”

There will be a buffet, a holiday movie, games, leis, noisemakers and Shirley Temple drinks to make a toast to “God’s Love.”

Both events will be held at Jesus Party headquarters at 291 Bates St. They are open to inner city children ages 5 and up. Anyone interested in supporting the Taylors and their mission should call 786-5568 for more information.
