LEWISTON – Roger R. Lafrance, 81, of Lewiston died Saturday at Central Maine Medical Center, after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born in Lewiston, Jan. 20, 1925, the son of Edmond and Maria Beaulieu Lafrance.

He was educated in Sabattus schools and served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II and participated in the Battle of the Bulge. He was married June 7, 1947, to Blanche Miliard.

During his working career, he had been employed at Lewiston Crushed Stone Co., later was manager of Delar/Maine Campers, then owned and operated Delar Home Improvements until his retirement. After his retirement, he took pride in building mirrors and cabinets and enjoyed participating in craft fairs with his daughters.

He was a loving and compassionate husband and father. He always looked forward to spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandson. He especially enjoyed the Christmas season. He will be greatly missed by family members and friends.

He was a member of Holy Family Parish, the Wallace Assembly 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion Post No. 22.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Lorraine Brooks and husband, Thomas, and Louise Coleman and husband, Timothy, all of Lewiston; a son, Daniel Lafrance and wife, Dolores, of Amarillo, Texas; six grandchildren, Amy Roy and husband, Gene, Sean Clements, Kevin Brooks, Brian Lafrance, Alison and Ryan Coleman; a great-grandson, Joshua Roy; two sisters, Gibby Bourgoin and Terry Poulin, both of Chandler, Ariz.; four brothers, Rosaire, Bertrand and Richard, all of Lewiston, and Leonard of Hudson, Fla.

His family would like to thank the nursing staff at CMMC M-1, Dr. Nicholette Erickson, Dr. Grenville Jones and their staff for their exceptional care.
