FARMINGTON – The Farmington Ski Club has gotten Titcomb Mountain ready for another winter of outdoor recreation. Snowmaking on the main downhill slopes will start as soon as the weather stays a little colder. The opening day is being postponed by one week.

The club is extending the December discount on club membership and season passes from Dec. 8 until Dec. 20. Membership applications are available online, at Northern Lights Hearth and Sports Shop and at the Titcomb Mountain Lodge Monday through Friday.

Titcomb Mountain is planning to open for the season on Saturday, Dec. 23. Staff will kick things off with a pancake breakfast from 8 to 10 a.m. They are offering a special opening weekend discount of $3 off a full day alpine ticket rate.

The mountain will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. during school vacation week Monday through Fridays. It will be open for a half-day on Sunday, Dec. 24, and closed on Christmas, Monday, Dec. 25. Those interested can check hours on the Web site.

Children’s programs will start the week of Jan. 8. Registrations were due Dec. 8, but there are some openings in two after-school programs: the Nana Webber Alpine ski and snowboard lessons and the Bill Koch Nordic ski lessons.

Private ski and snowboard lessons will be available every day during vacation for $20 an hour for the first student and $5 more for an additional student in the same lesson. They are available on the hour, between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Call 24 hours in advance to reserve a lesson.

Beginner skiers and riders can use the pony lift for $6 a day. Ski and snowboard rentals are available onsite. For more information, check www.titcombmountain.com or call 778-9031.

School vacation hours will be as follows: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 23; 9 a.m. to noon Sunday, Dec. 24; closed Monday, Dec. 25; 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, Dec. 26 to 29; 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 30; 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 31; and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Jan. 1.
