NEW SHARON – A Christmas Eve family service will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 24, at the New Sharon Congregational United Church of Christ, Cape Cod Road. All are welcome.

Blue Christmas

NORTH JAY – A Blue Christmas service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 21, at Bartlett Memorial United Methodist Church.

Pastors Elizabeth Bailey Roberts of North Jay UMC, Jordan Shaw of Livermore/Livermore Falls UMCs and Desmond Parker of Wilton UMC will lead the special service on the darkest night of the year. The service is offered for anyone who is finding the Christmas season difficult.

There will be special music, readings and an opportunity to light candles in memory of a loved one or as a sign of hope on a dark night. For more information, call Pastor Elizabeth at 446-7768.

Christmas dinner

LIVERMORE FALLS – The sixth annual free community Christmas dinner will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday, Christmas Day, at the American Legion Post Hall, Reynolds Avenue. All are welcome.

Those who plan to attend should call Karen at 897-3593 by Saturday, Dec. 23, and leave a name and how many will attend. Home delivery will be available. Numbers will help in meal planning.

The post will need 15 pies, 16 batches of cookies and 10 dozen rolls. Members are also are looking for several turkeys and hams, 25 pounds of potatoes, 20 pounds of squash and stuffing and gravy mixes. Anyone who can donate any of the items should call Betty at 897-6109. Those who wish to work Christmas Day should call Karen at 897-3593. Any excess donations of money or food will given to the local food bank.

Blood drive

FARMINGTON – The local Masonic Lodge will sponsor a blood drive from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Dec. 29, at Franklin Memorial Hospital Bass Training Room. For more information, call Kawika Thompson at 778-7083 or Leo Deon at 778-7008.

Worship schedule

WILTON – St. Luke’s Episcopal Church will offer the following Christmas worship schedule:

Sunday Dec. 24, at 8 and 10 a.m., Holy Communion, observing the fourth Sunday of advent.

Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, at 5 p.m., family Christmas Eve service, Holy Eucharist with a Christmas chancel drama presented by Michael Cooper. Young children will present a musical offering and the congregation will sing traditional Christmas carols.

Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, at 11 p.m., Midnight Mass, a traditional late Christmas Eve Communion service preceded by an informal carol sing at 10:30.

Because there are four services on Sunday, there will be no Christmas Day service.
