BETHEL – The annual “Christmas with the Masons” on Dec. 7 once again drew new visitors and veteran attendees to experience a 19th century holiday. Special treats were available in the dining room and mulled cider was served in the winter kitchen by Grace McKivergan.

Other volunteers for the evening were Lorrie Hoeh, Paula Howard and Amy Davis. Providing Christmas treats were Amy Davis, Bessie Bennett, Paula Howard, Danna Nickerson and Allan Marcotte.

Following the “Christmas with the Masons” reception, a book signing reception for William Andrews’ recent book, “Stealing History,” was held in the meeting room of the Dr. Moses Mason House.

In his remarks preceding the signing, Andrews discussed some of the ideas he dealt with while writing the book.

Plans for New Year’s Bethel are set for Sunday, Dec. 31, with a wide variety of entertainment, including music, humor, magic and contra dancing, marshmallow roasting on the common, sleigh rides and a dragon parade for children. Visit the society’s Web site to learn more at www.bethelhistorical.org. Sponsors are still being sought for the event at various levels.
