POLAND – The U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency has complete training for Diane E. Delano of the Poland Fire Rescue at its National Emergency Training Center.

Homeland Security trains thousands of Americans at the facility each year to enhance the ability of communities to manage emergencies and disasters, manmade and natural.

Delano completed the National Fire Academy’s Advanced Leadership Issues in Emergency Medical Services Course in Emmitsburg, Md., on Dec. 8. The course is designed for individuals in upper-management who have organizational responsibility for EMS operations in their agency or jurisdiction.

Situational, scenario-based instruction is the foundation of the course, with an emphasis on problem-solving and decision-making techniques. Leadership techniques as they relate to establishing and directing EMS work teams are also a part of the course.

The USA maintains the National Emergency Training Center in Emmitsburg, which also hosts Fame’s Emergency Management Institute. Over a million first responders have been trained through the programs since Sept. 11, 2001.
