ROXBURY – Michael G. “Smitty” Smith, 48, died Saturday, Dec. 16, in Roxbury. He was a resident of South Hillside Street in Roxbury.

He was born March 7, 1958, in Wiesbaden, Germany, a son of Glenwood and Anna (Zierer) Smith. He was a graduate of Rumford High School, Class of 1976. He worked at Irving Forest Products as a safety coordinator.

He was a member of the Slippery Sliders Snowmobile Club. He enjoyed hiking, fishing, snowmobiling, hunting and was an avid Red Sox and NASCAR fan. He will be missed by his co-workers.

Survivors include his father, Glenwood Smith of Norway; a brother, Larry Smith, and his wife, June, of Dixfield; a sister, Karen Tibbetts of Roxbury; a niece, Jennifer Smith of Dixfield; and an aunt, Louise Smith of South Attleboro, Mass.

He was predeceased by his mother; uncle, Alan; and his grandparents.
