FARMINGTON – Ralph (Butch) Grant, 64, of Farmington Falls, passed away early Saturday, Dec. 16.
He was born May 14, 1942, the beloved son of Mildred and Evans Grant of Rockport and precious grandson of the late Sarah (Nana) and Bowman Durkee of Camden.
He was the loving husband of Roxanne Grant for 23 years, endeared brother to Bowman (Boz) Grant, and preceded in death by sister, Mildred (Sis) Harlow; endeared father of Ralph Grant Jr. (Grant), of Palatine, Ill., Pamela Bowering of Farmington, Michael Young of Waldoboro, Brian and Trish Young and Timothy (Tim) and Amanda Young all of Wilton; three grandchildren, Courtney Shurfelt, Morgan and Hunter Bowering of Farmington; and a niece, Mildred (Jeannie) Daniello of Thomaston.
He died after a courageous battle with cancer in the quiet hours of Saturday in his sleep.
He was a graduate of Camden High School in 1960, and enlisted in the U.S. Army shortly thereafter, where he excelled in electronic communications. After being honorably discharged from the U.S. Army, he worked for the local phone company, with all of its names from New England Telephone to the present Verizon as a cable splice technician (i.e. linesman and repair) for 38 fulfilling years.
His main joys in life were his wife, family, many loving friends, cooking and bowling. He bowled for many fun years in Farmington, and was a member of the Franklin County Bowling Hall of Fame. A proud moment for him was his perfect score game in March 1994.
He breathed life, fun and a self-effacing humor into all of the lives of those touched by his sensitive and loving spirit.
He is and will be deeply missed by us all.
