NEW GLOUCESTER – Town Planner Amanda Stearns resigned Friday, giving Town Manager Rosemary Kulow two weeks’ notice.
Kulow said by telephone Monday that the resignation was voluntary. She said she could not discuss the resignation due to confidentiality.
Stearns could not be reached by telephone Monday for comment and was not in her office.
Kulow, who is Stearns’ immediate boss, said the planner will work until Dec. 29 and file a status report of any pending projects that need follow-up.
Stearns also agreed to assist the town if needed for any transition issues. The town is going to retain Greater Portland Council of Governments to provide interim planning until a new planner is hired, Kulow said.
Kulow said a pending job for Stearns remains confidential until an announcement is made, likely on Wednesday.
Stearns, the town’s second full-time planner, was hired last April. She was an assessor for Casco before that and has an extensive background in planning.
