DIXFIELD – The Dixfield Congregational Church will celebrate the annual Christmas Eve candlelight service at 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 24. All are welcome. The regular service will be held at 10 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 24.

New Year’s event

RUMFORD – New Year’s Eve at the Rumford Lodge of Elks will be held Sunday, Dec. 31, starting at 7 p.m., dinner buffet at 7:30 p.m. and dancing to Palmer and Company from 8:30 to 12:30. A midnight toast and light snacks and coffee will be offered. Call 364-4022 for reservations or pick up tickets at the lodge after 3 p.m. Cost is $25 a couple or $15 for singles.

Bowling results

RUMFORD – The Sunday Wonders Bowling Team finished their first half with Team 2 winning. Team 2 is led by Captain Sheryl Vaughn and includes members Cathy McDonald, Karen Morrison and Stacie Sargent.

There will be no bowling for the next two Sundays due to holidays.

High single for Dec. 17 games was 112 Sandy Glazier and Anita Simard; high triple, 299, Sandy Glazier; and special, Lisa Heath.

Christmas services

MEXICO – The Mexico Congregational United Church of Christ (Green Church) will have two Christmas services on Sunday, Dec. 24. At 10 a.m. there will be a family Christmas service, including the lighting of candles, a special Christmas story for the kids, the singing of Christmas carols and a message by the pastor.

At 11 p.m. the annual Candlelight and Carols Service will take place. The Senior Choir will sing and a service of candlelighting, scriptures and congregational carol singing will take place. Communion will be offered and as Christmas bells ring at midnight the congregation will encircle the sanctuary with candlelight and sing “Silent Night.”
