Each fall the students at Central Maine Christian Academy plan, organize, and run a fun-filled festival called the Compassion Fair. The Compassion Fair is a way to raise money to support our Compassion International Child, Mukisa Hamisi, from Uganda, while having fun at the same time. Compassion International is an organization that lets you choose a child to support in another country. You support the child financially as well as lovingly while you watch them grow by sending them letters and replying. CMCA raised money during this fair by having all the students in the school pay one dollar for our sponsor child.
About two weeks before the October 5 fair, the students in the junior high and high school each designed a game for the fair. on the day of the fair, those same students skipped their classes to set up their games outside for the younger kids to play. There was a variety of games to play. This year there were games from rubber duck races, magnetic fishing, as well as face painting and many other activities. After the kids played the games and won tickets, they got to go to the prize table. The prize table will knock your socks off! It had toys, stuffed animals, action figures, books, doll sets, and more. There were even goodies and snacks. It was obvious that the little kids had fun with the games, and the school was very happy with the money that it raised and will be able to send to Mukisa. This fair was great fun for all, while doing something good at the same time. We are really looking forward to next year’s Compassion Fair.
