RUMFORD – Lillian M. Zadakis, 84, of Rumford was reunited with her husband, John, parents and a sister on Dec. 18. She took her last breath at home surrounded by and in the arms of her loving family.
She was born Dec. 14, 1922, in Jay, the daughter of Archille and Lena (Roy) Poulin. She was educated in the schools of Jay, and graduating from Jay High School in 1940.
She married John D. Zadakis April 12, 1947. She was a communicant of St. Athanasius-St. John Catholic Church in Rumford. During World War II, she filled in at the Otis Paper Mill while the men were at war.
One of her greatest joys was being an Avon representative for more than 40 years. She loved being at home or camp in Bryant Pond. She loved watching Red Sox games, playing cards and going to her prayer group meetings when she was able to.
She also enjoyed giving donations to any animal or church foundations that were in need. But her greatest joy was family and friends whom she loved to joke and tease with. “Mom, we will love and miss you so, so much but now you are in a much better place with all the angels, for you are one of them now.”
She is survived by two daughters, Patty Flagg, and her husband, Paul, of Farmington and Gail Zadakis, and her partner, Sharon, of Eugene, Ore.; five sons, Greg Zadakis of Rumford, Godfrey Zadakis, and his wife, Dau, of El Paso, Texas, John Jr., and his wife, Linda, of Mexico, Stephen, and his fiancée, Shellie Maillet, of Rumford and Joe Zadakis, and his wife, Robin, of Bryant Pond; and cousins, nieces and nephews; Lillian, also known as Nanny, Mimi, or grandma, leaves behind 15 grandchildren, Michael, Linda, Tommy, Scott, John Jr., Stacey, Amy, Melissa, Mark, Chad, Nick, Marcie, Kara, Brandon and Stephen; and three great-grandchildren, Dylan, Lindsay and Bella.
She was predeceased by her parents; a sister, Georgette Breau, and her husband, William; an infant son, Mark; and a sister-in-law, Josephine Marsanskis, and her husband, Leo.
