• A 2001 black Jeep Grand Cherokee was stolen from the front of Tommy Guns Pit Stop bar at 4:35 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, then found a few hours later abandoned on Lincoln Avenue in Rumford by its owner. Also taken during the theft was a purse containing $1,000 and keys to the vehicle. No arrests have been made in the theft.

Arrest

• Michael W. Hasenfus, 42, of Main Street, Mexico, domestic assault, at 2:39 p.m. Dec. 15, on Main Street. He was booked at the Mexico Police Department and released on $400 unsecured cash bail. He is to have no contact with the victim. He is scheduled to appear in 11th District Court, Northern Oxford Division, on Jan. 2.

Accident

• A vehicle driven by William J. Collins of Rumford sustained about $10,000 in damage when it hit a patch of black ice at 4:45 a.m. Dec. 16 as Collins was driving north on Route 120. Collins apparently over-corrected when the 2002 Saab convertible hit the ice, causing it to roll over.

Rumford

• Nov. 24, 8:02 p.m. – Freddie D. White Sr., 56, of Mexico, driving a 2001 Chevrolet S10 pickup truck, backed out of the V.F.W. parking lot and into a parked 1992 Ford owned by Stanley Brickel, 64, of Mechanic Falls, and an apartment building at 325 Cumberland St., owned by Donna Thomas of Rumford. White failed to stop, then left the accident scenes.

White then crashed into Ralph’s Store and Deli at 341 Cumberland St., where he was arrested and charged with operating under the influence, leaving the scene of a crash involving an unattended vehicle, failure to report an accident, and leaving the scene of a property damage accident. White was released on $500 unsecured bail, and will be arraigned on Jan. 2 in Rumford District Court.

Damage to Brickel’s car was estimated at $1,000; to White’s truck, $5,000; and $6,000 total to the two buildings.
