LEWISTON – The employees of United Ambulance Service recently participated in the local toy collection campaign that was sponsored by the Lewiston Chapter of the Salvation Army.

More than 150 new, unwrapped toys were collected as part of a joint employee-corporate donation. “I am really proud of my coworkers’ generosity toward this great cause,” said David Biron, an EMS dispatcher with the company.

The toys were delivered in an ambulance by United Executive Director Paul Gosselin, assisted by Biron.

Major Kathleen Lyle accepted the donation on behalf of the Salvation Army. Lyle said she was grateful for the donation, as the toys will be distributed to children throughout the Lewiston/Auburn area. “There are currently 317 families in the area that we are going to provide a holiday celebration for,” said Lyle.

In addition to United, many other local businesses and families have made food and gift donations for the holiday season. For more information about the Lewiston Chapter of the Salvation Army, call 783-0801.
