I’m sure this will be one of many complaints about the possibility of losing WGME channel 13. Us baby boomers grew up with channels 6, 8 and 13 before the cable industry monopolized certain viewing areas.
I would not complain If I, like my friends eight miles away, could get the Bangor affiliate. In essence, part of our television heritage would be taken away. Unfortunately 6, 8, 13 have the worst picture on my televisions. Why?
WGME has some of the highest rated television programs. If we do eventually keep WGME, will this mean another cable rate hike? A friend warned me about our cable company and suggested I look elsewhere. It sounds like a great idea now.
How many repetitive news channels and home shopping networks do we need? Wouldn’t it be great to be able to choose the channels you’d like to see? WGME would be on a vast majority of people’s picks.
If the issue is saving money, eliminate the least watched stations. Direct TV and Dish Network must be “licking their cable chops.” Like me, many viewers will be looking to change from cable to other alternatives.
If we lose WGME, I’ll be one of the first to switch.
