FARMINGTON – Larry Elwood Watson, 62, of Cook Ave., Farmington, died late Friday night, Dec. 22, at his home, with his family at his side.

He was born Aug. 12, 1944, the son of Kenneth and Helene (Litchfield) Watson. He was educated in the public schools of Farmington and graduated from Farmington High School in 1962.

“Fireball” Watson pitched for his high school team. He later attended the University of Maine, Farmington, and entered the Armed Forces, completing a tour in Gelnhausen, Gemany. He recieved the National Defense Service medals for sharp shooting and for the use of the M-14 and M-16.

He was an ardent sports fan, especially following the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. Larry was also an avid reader of sports articles and several daily newspapers to stay abreast of current issues.

He was retired from the Maine Deptartment of Transportation after 30 years of service.

After retirement, he worked delivering newspapers to area businesses.

His first love was his family – his wife, Dolly; three sons, Jonah, Billy Ray and Travis Don, all of Farmington; two daughters, Mistee Watson of Strong and Angela White of Jay; a brother, Donald Watson and his wife, Ginny, of Texas; several cousins; a niece and nephew; one aunt, Joyce Mason of Newton, Mass.; his mother-in-law, Delfina Dolor of the Philippines; and a sister-in-law, with whom he shared a deep friendship, Carmen Sta. Maria of New Jersey.

He was predeceased by his folks.
