PARIS – The Paris Department of Parks and Recreation has announced plans for a Friday Ski, Ride and Tube bus to Mt. Abram in Greenwood. The five-week program, which will run on Feb. 2, 9, 16 and March 2 and 9, is an affordable way for children and adults to make it to the mountain.

The program is available to folks of any age. Evening terrain at Mt. Abram is intermediate and advanced only – the beginner slopes will not be open. Additionally, children not yet in school as well as those in grades kindergarten one and two must be accompanied by an adult chaperone. The chaperone must either participate in the program or pay $10 a trip to ride on the bus. Chaperones must ride on the bus and be at the lodge for the duration of the trip.

Pick-up will be available after school from Madison Avenue Elementary School and the Mildred M. Fox Elementary School and at 3:30 p.m. for older students and adults from the Paris Town Office. The bus will return to the Paris Town Office at 9 p.m.

The program must have at least 40 participants to be viable, and registration will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10, at the Paris Town Office, though registration forms will be available at the Town Office from 7:30 a.m. through 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Residents are encouraged to turn them in as soon as possible, but no later than Friday, Jan. 19. Non-Paris residents are welcome to participate, though Paris residents are given preference; non-Paris residents are asked to pay a one time, non-resident $10 surcharge to register.

The Mt. Abram program tuition fees for five weeks will be as follows: lift ticket, $102; lift, lesson, rental, $202; lift ticket, rentals, $162; lift ticket, lessons, $162; tubing, $82; dinner, $35.
