PORTLAND – Albert L. Lampron, 81, of Beech Ridge Road, Scarborough, died Wednesday, Dec. 27, at a Portland hospital.

He was born March 18, 1925, in Westbrook, the son of Lewis J. and Mary Helen Laberge Lampron. He attended St. Mary’s School. He built his first house at age 23 on Saco Street, and his last house on Beech Ridge Road at age 60.

He was an avid trapper, which led him into mink farming. He owned and operated the Scarborough Fur Farm for 21 years while he was raising his family. He was well-known for his furs, producing some of the finest pelts in America, according to many fur-buying associates. He also operated a driveway business, worked for Westbrook Public Works, and retired from the Holiday Inn at age 65.

He and his wife were members of the Sanford Flying Club, breeding and racing pigeons for many years.

He loved the Red Sox and the Patriots, but his proudest times were watching his son box at the Portland Expo. He enjoyed music, and loved to dance.

He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Patricia Hunt Lampron of Scarborough; two sons, Lewis, and his wife, Linda Lampron, of Westbrook and Tony, and his wife, Camilla Lampron, of Lewiston; two daughters, Judy, and her husband, Darrell LaChance, of Westbrook and Elaine Allen, and her companion, John Egan, of Portland; a stepson, Gene Knowles, and his wife, Melissa, of Buxton; two brothers, Roland Lampron of Westbrook and Hubert Lampron of Buxton; two sisters, Grace Foley of Westbrook and Dorothy Tanguay of Windham; 15 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a son, Albert Lampron; a daughter, Linda J. Hill, who died Jan.uary of this year; and several brothers and sisters.
