LEWISTON – Fernand J. “Pat” Patenaude, 88, of Russell Park Rehab Facility in Lewiston and formerly of Portland, died Wednesday, Dec. 27, at St. Mary’s Hospital after a long illness.
He was born on Dec. 12, 1918, in Rumford, a son of Arthur J. and Amarilda (Dube) Patenaude.
Pat was educated in local schools and was a graduate of Stephens High School.
He joined the Navy in 1942, and proudly served his country for 20 years. He served on different ships, including the Cassin Young. He retired as a Chief Interior Communications Electrician.
He was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Portland and while living in Rumford was a communicant of St. Athanasius-St. John Church.
He enjoyed watching baseball and hockey, as well as helping his family with electrical problems.
The family wishes to thank all of the doctors and nurses at St. Mary’s Hospital and Russell Park Rehab for the wonderful care given to him.
Surviving are three sisters, Jeannette A. Labonte of Lewiston, Muriel M. Arsenault of Roxbury Pond and Theresa M. Hebert of Rumford.
He was predeceased by his parents; and four brothers, George, Rudolph, Lionel and Bertrand.
