AUBURN – Members of Androscoggin Pomona Grange will meet on Wednesday, Jan. 3, at Danville Junction Grange for a 6:30 p.m. supper. The meeting, which will begin at 7:30, will feature a program led by William Hatch, chairman of the Agriculture Committee. A speaker from the Agricultural Extension Service will talk on composting. An attendance drawing and a 50/50 raffle will be held. All members and guests are welcome.

Watch service

AUBURN – A watch service will be held at 10 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 31, at the Christ Temple Church of God in Christ (Log Church), Route 4. Host pastor and master of ceremonies will be Elder Albert R. Jackson Sr.

There will be gospel praise and worship and gospel praise dance, youth of Christ Temple; gospel preaching, Jurisdictional Prelate Bishop Steve Coleman; and synopsis by the youth on the theme, “We are Better Together.”

Williams Temple Church of God in Christ, Portland, and Christ Temple Church of God in Christ of Auburn will lead in praise and worship. There will be a free will offering. All are invited.

LEWISTON – All night adoration will be held from 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 31, to 7:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 1, at Holy Cross Church, 1080 Lisbon St. There will be Eucharistic benediction and prayer at midnight, and refreshments will be available all night.

AUBURN – The First Auburn Senior Citizens will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3, at Hasty Community Center. The board meeting will be held at 10 a.m. Members should bring a bag lunch.

Tickets will be on sale for spaghetti dinner on Wednesday, Jan. 17. Bingo will be played after lunch.

The club met at Martindale Country Club for Christmas dinner on Dec. 20. Pot of gold winners were Felix Yurkson, Donald Martin, Lucien Marcoux, Joan Dechene, Pat Donahue, Guy Donahue, Joyce Poole, Judy Agnew and Phyllis Latlippe.

Square dance

PARIS – The Swingin’ Bears Square Dance Club will hold its first dance in 2007 on Saturday, Jan. 13, at the Oxford Hills Middle School, Pine Street, South Paris. It will have a New Year’s celebration theme. Ray Hilton will call for the square dancing and Scott Williams will cue the round dancing.

Qigong offered

LEWISTON – Qigong, an ancient Chinese exercise program, will be offered through the Central Maine Medical Center Wellness Center from 6:45 to 7:45 p.m. starting Tuesday, Jan. 2.

The program focuses on stress reduction, gently exercising the entire body, increasing energy and improving energy flow. The classes will be taught by Betsey Foster, MPH, who has studied and taught Chinese movement arts for many years.

Winners of the quarterly club championship at Schooner Estates in Auburn on Dec. 27 were: first, Jeanine Kivus and Fred Letourneau; second, Les Buzzell and John Hackett; third, Katie Love and Don Smith; fourth, Martine Begert and David Lock.
