LEWISTON – La Rencontre will meet at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 5, at the Franco American Heritage Center, 46 Cedar St.

The purpose of the event is to speak French for a two-hour period. It is an opportunity for those looking for a time and a place to practice their French language.

The program will feature “Madeleine Leblanc et ses amis (and her friends).” Leblanc was born and raised in Lewiston and is a member of the Just Us entertainers and Saints Peter and Paul Basilica Choir. She has performed with Just Us several times at the Franco-American Heritage Center.

Also performing will be Norm Laplante, Doris Surette, Anita Deschesne, Connie Lambert, Don Gosselin, Roland Pelletier, Sue Rouleau and accompanist, Nel Meservier.

A ham dinner will be prepared by the Lewiston culinary students. The price is $6.50 a person. Reservations must be made ahead of time by calling Claudette at 786-6936 or the center at 783-1585.
